2nd Annual West Oakland Beer Olympics Rules and Guidelines

Overview

The West Oakland Beer Olympics is an event organized by Max Carmenar, aka MP The Genius, to bring friends together to have a good time and a little fun competition. The team buy-ins contribute to the operational costs and prize payouts. (Beer, trophies, medals, etc.)

Guidelines and safety

This is a nonviolent, safe event. Anyone who creates an unsafe environment for anyone else including themselves will be disqualified from the event and asked to leave forfeiting all buy-ins or money used to enter the West Oakland Beer Olympics.

Anyone deemed too drunk to control themselves will be disqualified from the event and only asked to leave if their inebriation results in an unsafe environment for themselves or others.

Teams and the competition

Each team must have to have 2 people to compete. Both members of each team must follow the uniform requirements to compete which are one of the following options;

a) Each player on the team will need to have matching uniforms which can be as simple as matching shirts, team names on their shirts, or as many matching items as they’d like

b) Each player on the team will follow a theme, such as choosing a movie and dressing as a character from that movie, video game, or era in time. Get as creative as you’d like!

If both members of the team aren’t following one of the two options, the team cannot compete.

Everyone will be provided the same type of beer to make it fair. No one will be able to choose the beverages they compete with. All beer will be provided by the organizers of the event so no need to bring any to compete with. Beer, seltzers, and shots will be available for purchase to non-participating spectators at the event.

*We strongly suggest no pregaming for competitors as we will have a pregaming event for all participants of the Beer Olympics before the competition starts.

The drinking games for the competition are;

  • *Qualifying Event: Due to an overwhelming amount of team entries, a qualifying event will be held. The 8 teams to make it through the qualifying event will participate in the actual Olympic games

  • Beer pong: Classic beer pong with specific house rules plus a “Shot Clock” to limit major delays

  • *Modified Flip cup: Since there are only 2 people on each team the rules will be slightly modified to make sure the games aren’t too short, I will cover the rules during the match

  • Classic Chug: No need to explain.

The games will be elimination style meaning the winners of each event will move on to the next event until one team remains, The Champions.

Medals, trophies, and CASH prizes!

Let’s drink beer, let’s play games, and let’s have fucking FUN!!!
